The gig economy is quickly becoming a central part of life. On-demand jobs aren’t just limited to Uber and building sites. Professional firms, retailers and education providers are banking on a new workforce that will accept jobs on a project basis. The gig economy is on the rise because of the flexibility it has to offer, and technology makes it easier to connect people to “pop up” work.It is especially true among female professionals who have opted out of corporate life.
A decentralised workforce, with contractors and ‘fee for service” individuals working from home, can be associated with less regular human contact and financial uncertainty. However, while some Gig workers have described feelings of disconnect and isolation while others are thriving in the flexible economy that empowers workers to control their own destiny.
This boardroom banter will be an opportunity to consider the future of the gig worker, the solo entrepreneur, the freelancer and contractor. We will delve into the pro’s and con’s of “going it alone”.

Natasha is a Chartered Accountant (CA) with a degree in Accounting and International business from Edith Cowan University. She has been an accountant for 15 years and throughout those years she has lived her passion of solving problems for business owners. Natasha credits her success to her ability to empathise with business owners in order to genuinely understand their situation, which she believes puts her in the optimal position for providing high level accounting support. Outside work, Natasha is also an enthusiastic road cyclist, cook and loves spending time with her puppy Hamersley.
