Join us live on Wednesday 2 December to hear experts unpack how technological advancements are redefining the needs of people in the workplace and how the challenges of today are creating opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow.

In partnership with Torrens University Australia (TUA), Business Women Australia members and guests will be joined by Future Crunch, a team of scientists, artists, researchers and designers who believe science and technology are the most powerful drivers of human progress. They will present their compelling Robot Rule of Thumb keynote, exploring how technological disruption is reshaping jobs and dictating skill requirements.

Legendary Sky News journalist Tim Gilbert will host an inspiring panel of experts, who will discuss how the ever-changing world of work is impacting the education sector. Hear what providers are doing to adapt and gain invaluable insights into the future of the industry. Tim will be joined by an extraordinary panel of women including Dr Athena Vongalis-Macrow, Research Fellow at Torrens University Australia, Ros Cameron, Director of Business Agility Research Centre at Torrens University Australia, Jessica Schubert, Director, Founder of Intact Teams & Head of Learning and Development at Business Women Australia and Kylie Clarke, Director, Strategic Partnerships and Growth at Evise, and the recipient of the 2020 BWA Full Scholarship to TUA.

 

About Athena:
Dr Athena Vongalis-Macrow is currently a Research Fellow and coordinator of the Centre for Research In Education at Torrens University Australia.
She has been research active for over 15 years in Australia and internationally, focusing on researching the overlap between women, organisations and education. She has published on gender in academia, on specific gender based learning such as gender stereotyping, networking and organisational loyalty.
Her recent edited book on career mentoring highlights mentoring lessons from learned colleagues in higher education.
Her research has been showcased in Harvard Business Review, Forbes and The Conversation.
She has worked in corporate education programs, government based initiatives, and in research to better understand the complexity of gender in relation to work, education and leadership.
Her current work is in the areas of AI and Education; Learning, and Intellectual Labour.

 

About Jessica:
After over 20 years leading large cross-cultural teams in Europe and Asia Pacific in the commercial real estate industry, Jessica decided to leave her corporate career and instead help leaders in the corporate world to navigate through power dynamics and organisational complexities in a quest to create workplace cultures where people are happy AND productive.
Jessica works with leaders in one on one coaching sessions, designs and facilitates group leadership workshops and shares her insights in panels and keynotes globally.
Since the world changed in March this year, she has transformed her business ‘Intact Teams’ to be completely digital and focusses on helping people to lead remote teams in a hybrid world.
As Head of Learning & Development at Business Women Australia, Jessica co-creates learning initiatives with and for female leaders through partnerships and impactful leadership development programs. Her mission is to enable all women in business to have a platform and community where they can learn, connect and find inspiration to be the leader they want to be.

 

About Kylie:
With a background of over 15+ years in events, communications and membership at not-for-profit medical college The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), in April 2019 Kylie left her well-paid, well-respected job which she loved and dived headfirst into the world of small business, creating event-tech and event management consultancy start up Evise with her business partner. Determined and with unwavering passion, and a fire to succeed, midst a global pandemic, she celebrated her 1-year anniversary as a bone fide business owner.
Currently completing an MBA, Kylie holds a Diploma of Event Management and a Professional Certificate in Food and Nutritional Coaching. Having walked the walk and vast years of experience within the events industry, she has proven ability to lead and deliver complex projects with collaboration, innovation, and integrity. Kylie brings to the table a mature, pragmatic, and personal approach, along with a fantastic sense of humour and authentic, team-orientated leadership.
Kylie’s career aspiration is to give back to the system that gave her the opportunity by empowering, growing, and mentoring other women. She plans to become an ambassador for all other women to follow their heart, follow their true calling and follow their passion so that they too can make a difference in the world.
As a self-confessed adrenaline junkie and a bit of a petrol head, Kylie loves anything fast and motorised. She recently obtained her motorcycle L’s, bought herself a motorbike she aptly named ‘Ricciardo’ (after Australia F1 driver Daniel Riccardo) and is learning to ride. When she is not in a helmet and leathers, her other passions include musical theatre and cooking.

 

About Ros:
Professor Roslyn Cameron is Director of the Centre for Organisational Change and Agility (COCA) at Torrens University, Australia. She is a Board Member of the Mixed Methods International Research Association (MMIRA) and a member of the AHRI Advisory Research Panel in Australia.
She has been the recipient of several large-scale workforce development research grants and an array of smaller scale research grants related to skilled migration, workforce readiness/employability and future skilling totalling $1.9m. She has over 90 publications.
Her research and teaching specialities are in the area of HRM, skilled migration, workforce development and Industry 4.0 and the future of work.
