About Fiona de Garis
Fiona joined BREC as Executive Director in 2018, where she continues to explore the transformative potential of art to change lives and build communities. With 25+ years’ experience in the cultural sector Fiona is skilled in facilitation of the creative process across diverse performance genres, with a strong focus on developing new Australian work. Passionate about capacity building and realising potential, she loves mentoring and providing development pathways for artists and arts workers.
From 2008 to 2018 Fiona was Senior Producer at Performing Lines WA, where she nurtured the development of independent West Australian artists. Previously Fiona enjoyed the diversity of fifteen years freelancing as a stage and project manager; working for many of Australia’s leading performing arts organisations. A graduate of both UWA and the W.A. Academy of Performing Arts, Fiona is currently a Board member for CircuitWest, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, and a member of the Bunbury Events Advisory Group.
